Can I approach a video production company with no brief?

From chatting with clients, we've realised sometimes people don’t contact us because they’re not confident they’ve got a good brief.

Don't worry about it. We get excited when people come to us with a blank canvas—it gives us a chance to get creative.

You don’t need to have every detail figured out. We can can create your brief together so we start off with clear goal in mind.

Plus, the process is really simple.

- We help you agree on an objective (increased sales, lead gen, awareness)

- We talk about your brand, if you have a brand strategy, guidelines or if a content workshop might be the first port of call.

- Find a video type that matches the objective (case study, brand, product videos, animation)

- Pick an on-brand video style

- Agree on the budget

- Organise the shoot

- Film, edit, deliver

It’s simple to turn your blank canvas into effective video or animation. The hardest part is picking up the phone or dropping us an email.

So, yes, if you want content but haven’t worked anything else out beyond that, you should absolutely reach out to a video production company. They are the experts and trust us, they have dealt with this all before.

Question: What are the main phases involved in producing video content?

It takes time to produce high-quality content, and rushing this process isn’t a good idea. Plus, different people have different approaches.

So, here’

  1. Pre-Production

- Define your goals, audience, and message. We offer strategic workshops for brands on a journey of discovery.

- Create your storyboard and write your script.

- Choose your filming locations and your actors and possible voiceover.

- The more prep you do, the smoother the shoot/post-production will go, and if you’re working with a video production company they will deal with the daily stresses, you just get the end product.

  1. Production

rhaps your project is animation based, if so skip on down to post-production...

-Reece day, we always like to carry out a recce, we've found over the years that when recce days aren't budgeted for the end result suffers in the long run.

- Shoot days - these can be long and intense and fun. That’s one of the reasons we've been doing this for so long.

- Also, it doesn’t matter if you're shooting on location or in a studio, have a backup plan because things can go wrong. Generally they do, all about that risk mitigation.

  1. Post-Production

- Edit, animation, graphics, compositing, colour grading, sound design, mastering. This stage includes a lot of checkpoints and its important to completed each one before moving onto the next level.

- Each level add a new diamention to the final products.

- Unless you have an proficient in-house editor, this is where expertise is needed most. Often client will come to us with footage they have already shot.

  1. Review & Revisions

- Get together with your team and revisit your initial brief to ensure the video aligns with your original vision.

- Honest feedback is key to making final tweaks or adjustments before delivery and producing the best video possible.

-However, trial by comity is not conducive to producing effective content, someone needs to collate feedback and take charge.

- If you’ve hired a video production company, use their experience to your advantage, they will have done things for a reason.

  1. Distribution

-Arguable the most important bit

You can produce an award-winning video but if you are not distributing this in the right way for your brand it won't be effective.

Work with your marketing team to develop a strategy for distributing the video properly. Social, website, ads.

There’s no point in producing a great video if you’re going to mismanage it.
